I know what you’re thinking, we are in Miami there are no seasons except summer! Granted yes it may be at least 80 degrees 300 days out of the year down here but that is no excuse not to follow trends and update your work wardrobe.

You can still keep your fashion flair in the office, adding a few key pieces will do the trick and still keep you both professional and fashionable. Put away the pastels and opt for darker, richer or more neutral colors. If you want a pop of color make sure they are bright, vibrant splashes mixed with black. Think chunky. I know if you could you’d probably come to the office in sweat pants and sneakers but that is a definite fashion don’t! You don’t need to be a fashionista or even need to make a fuss to look polished and put together. Here are a few twists on staple pieces. If you are going to wear denim make sure it is dark, add some texture by going with corduroy and always pair them with a sports jacket. Plaid shirts are not just for lumber jacks. Pick out dress shirts with unusual or large pockets. Mix patterned ties and shirts. Velvet jackets are the hottest and simplest way to make a dramatic statement, look for these jackets in grays and dark greens. If you don’t want to do a jacket layer with sweaters or cardigans. Always, always, always wear a watch, time is money! Here’s a little secret that all women can agree on– There is nothing like a man in a suit. Not everyone has the budget for a Prada suit but do spend the extra money and get your suit tailored; you will look like a million bucks and feel like you can take over the world.
