Coworking vs. Private Office: Which is Best for You?

Open space or space with a door you can close? That is the question. And the answer probably will depend on 1) your personal work style, 2) the nature of the work you do and, 3) whether your clients are local or remote.

Everyone wants to close a door from time to time, but coworking space encourages networking and relationship building. So there is an argument to be made for either environment. And, there will be times when you may need to get a group of people together and collaborate with someone in London, or someone in Wisconsin. You’ll need a meeting room built out with the latest A/V technology to make that happen.

So, what’s right for you? Here’s a check list with some examples to get you thinking about what the best fit might be:

As we mentioned, no matter how much you love mayhem, you’ll want some privacy at some point. Very few people can be productive for long periods of time in an open environment; there are too many distractions.

Best of both worlds?

Find an office provider that gives you the freedom to work the way you want, with both open spaces, private spaces and meeting rooms. Make sure they have the flexibility to accommodate your changing needs. And, finally, make sure your office provider has the people factor nailed. Great people tend to attract more great people. Find an organization like that and watch your business soar!
